Pompeii: The Legacy update v1.006.0 has officially been released, adding new gameplay maps, expanded UI elements, and highly requested flexibility to the sandbox experience.
Players can now build their cities across two completely new landscapes, and a dedicated map selection interface has been added for Sandbox and Creative modes.
Sandbox and Creative modes also feature much more flexible city center placement as of this patch. The City Center is no longer restricted to the southern edge and can be placed almost anywhere on the map.

You’ll likely notice a significant improvement to the overall visuals and polish in Pompeii: The Legacy update v1.006.0. It has added extra environmental vegetation, optimized roof rendering, and smoother Level of Detail (LOD) transitions across multiple buildings.
Ongoing engine optimizations have even been added to make the overall city-building experience much smoother, especially as your settlement expands. A handful of fixes have already been planned for the next update, which is set to drop next week:
- Several new plaza types
- Citizens appearing around and inside more buildings
- Improved movement throughout the city
Pompeii: The Legacy officially launched from Steam Early Access on April 6, 2026. During the pre-release phase of its time on the platform, the city builder released 52 updates.
These updates included the implementation of most planned buildings, major UI panels and management systems, performance optimizations across large cities, and much more.
Spanning multiple generations, the strategy title blends city management, narrative storytelling, political decision-making, and survival mechanics, tasking you with rebuilding, expanding, and defending your Roman settlement as you navigate family drama, shifting alliances, and the looming threat of natural disasters.
