The developers of Phantom Blade Zero at S-Games have published a statement to distance themselves from alleged statements about Xbox.
The Brazilian website Gameplayscassi published an article attributing to an anonymous developer from S-Game interviewed at Chinajoy in Shanghai the quote “Nobody needs this platform” when queried about a possible Xbox port of Phantom Blade Zero.
The article appears to have been deleted, but not before several media outlets and influencers, ever hungry for drama, reported it in their own articles and videos.
While S-Game does not directly deny or confirm that such a statement may have been made, its clarification made on X (formerly Twitter) expresses the belief in making the game available for everyone, also adding that no platforms have been ruled out.
“Recently, we noticed that some media outlets have claimed to have interviewed an unnamed developer from S-GAME at Chinajoy, who seems to have made some statements regarding the release platforms and strategy for Phantom Blade Zero.
We want to clarify that these claimed statements do not represent S-GAMEâs values or culture, as we believe in making our game accessible to everyone and have not ruled out any platforms for Phantom Blade Zero.
We are hard at work on both the development and publishing fronts to ensure that as many players as possible can enjoy our game at release and in the future. Our team is looking forward to sharing more development updates soon, and we are excited to bring our world premiere demo to Gamescom this month!”
While we noticed the original interview, which went quite viral, we declined to quote here on Simulation Daily due to the lack of attribution to a named developer, which definitely undermines the credibility of the whole thing.
That being said, the official statement from S-Game, which mentions that no platform is ruled out, is worth reporting. It’s also worth adding that in June, S-Game officially confirmed that Phantom Blade Zero is not a platform exclusive.

As mentioned by S-Game, the title will be playable at Gamescom this month, ahead of a further presence in September at Tokyo Game Show. We hope to be able to test it at either event and let you know what we think about it.
