Indie Japanese developer Surume Game Studios launched a crowdfunding campaign for its promising mecha game Omega Phenex: Commenced Project Six.
The developer used the local platform Campfire, and although it’s in Japanese, it’s possible to pledge your support from most of the world.
The target was set at 3,000,000 yen, which is about $18,500, but the goal was reached in approximately 24 hours, and now the project is sitting on almost double that amount: 5,405,100 yen.
The developer already has clear plans for completing Omega Phenex in 2027, but during the open beta test on Steam, wishlists spiked to a whopping 120,000, and that “overwhelming response” triggered the will to improve the game even further.
The 3 million yen goal, which has already been achieved, will enable the developer to include full Japanese voice-overs performed by professional actors.
The next goal is 6 million yen, which will bring the setup of global operations and support with the aim of reaching a wider audience.
10 million yen will bring additional mech parts to Omega Phenex, and further goals could be unveiled down the line. With 24 days to go on the clock, there’s still plenty of time to aim higher.
