According to the documents provided by Nintendo itself, the Switch 2 has shipped to retailers 5.82 million units in less than a month, between its release on June 5 and June 31.

That being said, we also get a special update beyond June 31, mentioning that Nintendo estimates that the console has sold through to customers over 6 million units in the 7 weeks following its launch.

Nintendo also provided a brief statement apologizing for the fact that demand for the new console is exceeding supply in many countries and promising to boost production.

“Currently, demand for Nintendo Switch 2 is exceeding supply in many countries, and we regret the inconvenience this is causing our consumers. We will continue
to strengthen our production and supply systems to deliver as much Nintendo Switch 2 hardware as possible.”

On the other hand, the Nintendo Switch has shipped to retailers 153.1 million units in its lifetime as of June 31, 2025. This means that the older console has shipped 980,000 units during the quarter, slipping under a million for the first time.

In terms of software sales, 8.67 million units and 1,415.63million units of Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games, respectively, have been shipped during the consoles’ lifetime.

We also learn that Mario Kart World has shipped 5.36 million units, which represents the lion’s share of Nintendo Switch 2 software sales to date.

Looking at pure financial results for the fiscal year, sales were 572.3 billion yen, up 132.1% year-on-year, while operating profit was 56.9 billion yen, up 4.4% year-on-year.

The financial forecast for the full fiscal year has not been changed compared to the announcement made in May. Interestingly, the forecast for units that Nintendo expects to sell during the full fiscal year also has not been changed despite the initial success.

The company believes it’ll ship 15 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, 4.5 million Nintendo Switch consoles, 45 million units of Nintendo Switch 2 games, and 105 million units of Switch games between April 2025 and March 2026.

Other gaming companies have also already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Ubisoft, Krafton, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Microsoft, Konami, and Marvelous Entertainment.
