Nihon Falcom announced its financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year, related to the period between April and June 2024.

According to the official documents, net sales for the quarter were 1,272 million yen (down 14.0% year-on-year), while operating income was 453 million yen (down 38.8% year-on-year).

The product division, which focuses on games sold directly by Falcom in Japan, recorded 179 million yen in sales (down 5.1% year-on-year).

On the other hand, the licensing division, which focuses on games licensed to overseas publishers, recorded 1,092 million yen in sales (down 15.3% year-on-year).

We also learn that the beloved Trails JRPG series has shipped over 8 million copies worldwide cumulatively, ahead of the release of the next game, The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria- for PS5 and PS4, which is releasing both in Japan and in Asia on September 26.

The company is also working on several new projects, including the new Tokyo Xanadu game and new IPs.

Nihon Falcom isn’t changing its forecast for its full fiscal year, as they expect most sales to be focused in Q4 when the new Trails game launches in Japan and Asia.

It’s worth mentioning that it won’t launch in the West, where NIS America is instead preparing to release the previous game of the series Trails Through Daybreak II. It’s coming sometime in early 2025 for PS5, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

If you’d like to read more about gaming industry financial results, several have already been announced and we have dedicated reports, including Capcom, Koei Tecmo, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Konami, Nintendo, Square Enix, Sega, Sony, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Take-Two Interactive Software.
