Today Microsoft and Mojang hosted a new Minecraft Live event, including new content coming to the ultra-popular blocky survival game.

First of all, during the livestream we took a look at the “Vibrant Visuals” graphics upgrade, which will do pretty much what it says on the tin, upgrading Minecraft’s visuals across the board.

It’ll include new lighting, shadows, water effects, and much more.

It’ll first come to the Bedrock version of the game in the next few months, but a release for the Java version is also planned down the line.

The second reveal is a content drop focusing on Ghasts. In the Nether you’ll be able to find Dried Ghasts. By bringing one to the overworld and giving it water, you’ll revive it and eventually turn it into a Ghastling.

By feeding the Ghastling snow, you’ll help it grow, and it’ll eventually turn into a Happy Ghast, for which you can craft a harness and then use it as a flying mount that can transport up to four players.

There’s even a gauge that lets you locate your friends so you can go pick them up, and you can also use the Happy Ghast as a flying platform to build much taller structures in Survival mode.

We also learn that the next Spring to Life game drop will launch very soon on March 25. It’ll add warm and cold climate variants of mobs, falling leaves, whispers of sand, and much more.

You can enjoy a look at the gameplay below.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Game Drops, they’re smaller but more frequent content updates for Minecraft introduced at the previous Minecraft Live in September.

That’s also why there are now two Minecraft Live events a year instead of one.

If you’re unfamiliar with Minecraft, it’s currently available on basically every platform with a chip inside. By now I’ve lost count of how many there are, but if you have a console, PC, or smartphone, it’s very likely that there is a version of this ultra-popular game for you. It surpassed 300 million copies sold last year.
