According to the announcement, it will be released next week. MK Studios usually reveals its scenery only when they’re almost ready for release and this is no exception.

Naha Airport, ICAO code ROAH and IATA code OKA, is the main airport serving the capital city of Okinawa prefecture. It’s the sixth-busiest in Japan even thanks to the fact that Okinawa is a major holiday destination for Japanese and foreign tourists.

The announcement came with the first screenshots, which you can watch below.

The upcoming release of this airport is great news for those who enjoy flying in Japan because the default version in Microsoft Flight Simulator is in dire conditions.

Not only the second runway that opened in 2020 on an artificial island is incomplete and unusable, but the water masks surrounding the airport are all messed up and have been since the release of the simulator.

This is the default Naha airport in Microsoft Flight Simulator, with a half-built runway and artificial island, and completely messy aerials and water masks. Fans have been complaining about this horror since 2020, but it has never been fixed.

It’s also an extremely scenic destination that enables great flights along the Japanese islands. If you depart from Sapporo, you can basically fly over the whole archipelago.

Here’s what you can expect from the add-on.

  • Highly detailed rendition of Okinawa Airport (ROAH)
  • Various Points of Interest (POIs)
  • Up-to-date ground layout and stands
  • Custom jetways
  • Custom vehicle models
  • Detailed coastline model
  • Runway profile and elevation data
  • High-quality terminal interior model
  • Custom approach, runway, taxiway lights, ILS and other objects
  • Custom taxiway labels
  • AI compatible

Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
