Diamond DA40-XLS for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and MSFS 2020 Released

Microsoft Flight Simulator Diamond

Developer COWS just released its newest aircraft, the small but powerful four-seat, single-engine light aircraft  Diamond DA40-XLS “Diamond Star” for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and 2020.

The aircraft, which has been teased for a while, is now available on Orbx Direct for $30.60.

If you’re not familiar with COWS (which stands for Creator of Worlds), it’s the developer behind the excellent Diamond DA42 twin in both DA42-VI and DA42-TDI variants for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

A trailer has also been released to showcase the aircraft in its full glory, and you can find it below.

Here’s what you can expect in terms of visuals and animations.

Yet, visuals are only part of the picture, as you can hear about the flight model:

The avionics are just as advanced:

We also get a state-of-the-art engine simulation to match.

Last, but not least, we hear a few bullet points about the sounds:

The Diamond DA40-XLS is the deluxe version of the DA40 (as opposed to the budget version CS) introduced in 2007, with plenty of options making it an advanced light aircraft, propelled by a powerful Lycoming IO-360-M1A fuel-injected engine.

The DA40 first flew in 1997 and it has proven a very successful aircraft, with over 2,200 units built and delivered.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available for both PC and Xbox Series X|S, albeit today’s release is only available for PC for the moment.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is currently available for the same platforms following its recent release in November. if you want to see the visual difference against Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, you can enjoy our video and screenshot comparison.

You can also check out our in-depth analysis of how much data the simulator downloads from the cloud, clearing the air from some widespread misinformation that made the rounds over the past few weeks.
