At the beginning of the game, Samus comes to the aid of the Galactic Federation UTO research center after it’s attacked by her archrival Sylux. As the fight goes on, a disaster knocks her out.

When she wakes, Samus finds herself on the unknown planet Viewros. There, players will explore and take down enemies using a slew of combat abilities. These include brand-new psychic abilities that Samus can use after receiving mysterious powers.

This psychic power lets Samus do things like control a psychic beam’s trajectory to beat enemies and use a psychic glove to manipulate the energy around her.

There are several different zones in Viewros, including a jungle, a thunder-filled factory, a frozen and abandoned research lab, and a volcano with another lab. These areas are connected by a desert, Sol Valley, which Samus can traverse on her new bike, Vi-O-La.

Vi-O-La can also be used around areas that have flat stretches. While on Vi-O-La, Samus can counter-attack and smash energy crystals around the desert.

While on Viewros, Samus will encounter several Galactic Federation Troopers who are trying to get home. Together, they’ll all come together to escape, and the troopers can even help in battle and take some actions around the map.

Players can watch the new trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond below:

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to release on December 4, 2025, on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition will feature enhanced graphics and mouse controllers.

Last year, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was one of the most anticipated games — it even had a nomination at The Game Awards 2024 for just that. For now, players can get the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Samus amiibo and the Samus and Vi-O-La amiibo, along with a Sylux amiibo that will be released when the game is released.
