Today, after the grand finals of Guilty Gear Strive at EVO 2025 in Las Vegas, Arc System Works and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced a beta for the developers’ next game, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls.
The beta will be a closed one, and it’ll be only on PS5. It’ll span three days between September 5 and September 7. That being said, this is Pacific Time, so it’ll already be September 6 when it starts in Europe and Japan.
Since the beta is closed, you need to register, and you can do so at a dedicated website.
The beta will include online lobby matches, limited offline matches, rollback netcode, spectator mode, and the startup battle tutorial.
Six characters will be available: Iron Man, Doctor Doom, Star-Lord, Storm, Ms. Marvel, and Captain America.
You can see the trailer showcased at EVO below, also showing a few glimpses of gameplay.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be released in 2026 for PS5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
If you’re unfamiliar with it, it’s a tag-team fighting game featuring a plethora of Marvel characters. One of the most relevant elements that set it apart is its uniqye 4v4 setup, which certainly isn’t an overly explored territory for the genre.
It’ll be interesting to see if it’ll set a new standard when the game launches next year.
If you’d like to see more, you can enjoy the announcement trailer and a behind-the-scenes video that were showcased during the PlayStation State of Play broadcast in June.
