Marvel Rivals has revealed all the details for its Marvel Rivals Championship Season One: Eternal Night Falls, the in-game tournament that’s open to all players who are 16 or older.
The tournament will be held every quarter, and registration is open until March 8. To register, players will need to have a Faction of at least six players. Players can sign their Faction up through the Tournament tab in Marvel Rivals. Players who are 16 but still considered minors by law will need a guardian to sign off to participate.
There are seven regions for Marvel Rivals Championship Season One: Eternal Night Falls: China PC, North America PC, Europe PC, Asia PC, North America Console, Europe Console, and Asia Console. With the exception of China PC, players can choose whatever region they want (though choosing a region they’re not in will inevitably lead to latency problems).
PC players can use either keyboard/mouse or controller, while Console players are required to use a controller. Other rules and guidelines can be found here in the official Tournament Rules guide.
The tournament season itself is laid out as follows:
- Open Qualifiers: March 8-9
- Closed Qualifiers: March 15-16
- Double Elimination: March 11-23, 29-29, and April 5-6
Open qualifiers have a best-of-one format, and the top 128 Factions will go straight to the double-elimination stage. Factions that rank 129 to 512 will go to the closed qualifiers, which are also a best-of-one format. The top 128 Factions in the closed qualifiers will progress to the double-elimination stage.
The double-elimination stage has three different formats. Matches 256 to 16 will be a best-of-three format. The Lower Bracket Finals and the Grand Finals will be a best-of-seven format. Any other stages will have a best-of-five format.
The matches that take place on March 29-30 and April 5-6 will be broadcast live on the official Marvel Rivals Twitch and YouTube accounts.
The top 16 Factions will win prize money from the $14,500 prize pool in each region. The rewards are broken down like this:
- Champion: $6,000
- Runner-up: $3,000
- Third Place: $1,500
- Fourth Place: $800
- Fifth Place to Eight Place: $400 Per Faction
- Ninth Place to Sixteenth Place: $200 Per Faction
