Today, Bungie, revealed a boatload of information for their upcoming PvPvE survival extraction FPS Marathon via the “Vision of Marathon” ViDoc.
Some of the new features showcased in the preview documentary include solo queue, enhanced visual fidelity, and anupdated UI. Even though it was originally stated not to be in the game due to toxicity concerns, proximity chat will be added due to high community demand, letting players form alliances, negotiate truces, or engage in “trash talk” with nearby enemies.
Marathon will also support solo extractions, allowing players who prefer a lone-wolf experience to play without a team. A new bio-cybernetic Runner character class, “Rook,” was shown off, which you can see in the video below.
In Marathon, players scavenge the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV as a bio-cybernetic Runner while surviving against hostile security forces, rival Runners, and inhospitable environments to seek their fortune. It is set to launch in March 2026 for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S with full cross-play and cross-save, at a target price of $39.99.
Bungie has also placed a heavy emphasis on competitive integrity when talking about marathon, as the PvPvE survival extraction FPS will feature pay-to-win mechanics and features gameplay outcomes (exfil or death) that are never determined by spending. Reward Passes will also never expire and players can earn rewards from previously purchased passes and buy past Reward Passes at any time.
For more information on this, be sure to check back in January, as Bungie has promised info on possible seasonal content and roadmap plans. You can also check out Simulation Daily for update and info on plenty of other extraction titles, like Reaper Actual and Arc Raiders.
