Today, EA Sports released a brand new deep dive for the latest installment in its annual football franchise, Madden 26. This specific look into the virtual gridiron centered on the game’s franchise mode, showcasing all the changes and improvements coming this year.
One of the first big changes coming this year revolves around coaching. In Madden 26, you’ll now have the ability to customize your coaches’ looks, archetypes, and staff. This not only affects how they appear on a cosmetic level, but also how they can approach games strategically.
Coaches now feature their own skills, with categorized such as Offensive Guru, Defensive Genius, or Development Wizard, affecting starting and unlockable abilities. You can also level them up from one to 50 by earning Coach XP through completing various goals. These will lead to unique Game Day boosts, Weekly Strategy approaches, and Playsheet Loadouts that serve as mini-playbooks.
Coordinators also now have their own abilities, goals, and progression, becoming vital for weekly strategy, which you’ll be able to level up to unlock other ability boosts similar to the previous Staff Loadout skill tree. Keeping an eye on the new Trainer Role and Abilities will be important thanks to the introduction of Wear and Tear, as you’ll need to manage all of this to keep your team healthy.
In-game presentation also gets an overhaul, as Scott Hanson will show off highlights from other CPU games and online league games, which will have their own special broadcast packages depending on whether they play on Thursday, Sunday, or Monday.
Madden 26 is taking a new approach to the draft and recruiting. Alongside placing more of an emphasis on adding in a wider variety of unique player types, including “gadget players” and specialized linebackers, rookies also get more accurate and realistic application logic for tags like Day 1 Starter or Trade Target.

Atmosphere will also reign supreme in Madden 25, as specific locations will have unique chants and legends performing stadium traditions, unique and customizable equipment, and authentic mascots and motion graphics. Madden 26 will release on August 14, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via the EA app for Windows, Steam, and Epic Games Store starting at $69.99.
