EA Sports has just released a brand new deep dive for the newest installment in its annual football franchise, Madden 26.
Madden 26 introduced a boatload of new features, while also improving upon the foundation they’ve built over the last few decades. First, Signature Identity is all about the way every player and coach approach each unique game. Through features like Quarterback DNA, Coach DNA, and Football Weather, no two matchups will play the same.
Controlling an in-the-pocket QB like Brock Purdy is going to be significantly different than a scrambler like Lamar Jackson. Where Purdy will thrive under oncoming pressure with no hit to accuracy, Jackson will be able to escape it thanks to his throw on the run ability and the return of QB Juke moves while scrambling.
The way each character moves and how they hold the ball is also tailor-made to real-life movements in Madden 26, as the Signature Identity picks up the smallest details, featuring eight new throwing motions, three unique arm types, 50 traits, and a slew of signature styles of Superstar QBs. Coaching DNA also plays a vital role in gameplay.
The new Data-Driven Coaching model utilizes real-world tactics from NFL coaches to inform AI decision-making, enabling the CPU to adapt to your play, much like Andy Reid or Dan Campbell, as the game progresses. Factors like down-and-distance, time remaining, and field position will come into play, making each game feel as tense as the pros.
The CPU isn’t the only one who can adapt on the fly in Madden 26, as the introduction of new playbooks, mid-drive substitution menus, and adjustable real-time play art (like adjusting Zone Drops while on the field) completely changes the field. Speaking of the field, dynamic weather has returned, as blizzards, rain games, and wind will affect everything from visibility to dropped balls to change of direction.
New depth chart positions that fans have been begging for are coming, as players new primary positions for Edge (LEDG & REDG) and SAM, MIKE and WILL linebackers, and a secondary position for Nose Tackle (DT archetype as well) and a new Gadget player (Think Taysom Hill or Deebo Samuel). A devoted slot for Long Snappers is being added, meaning that you’ll need to have a solid snapper in, or you’ll shoot the ball over your QB’s head.
After seeing how successful it was in EA Sports College Football 25, Wear & Tear is also being added, so you’ll need to keep an eye on your players. If you don’t, not only will they take a knock to their stats, but they could also risk serious injury.
