Today Epic Games had a two-fold announcement to share about the future of Lego Fortnite, including a brand new name.
The survival crafting experience that we’re used to will be renamed Lego Fortnite Odyssey starting with the “Storm Chasers” update coming tomorrow.
The update will also bring a whole new biome, new dungeons, new enemies, and a big final boss, the Storm King.
You can check out all that content in the trailer below.
Yet, that’s not all, as a second experience will also branch off from the survival crafting one, with Lego Fortnite Brick Life, a “social roleplay experience” quite clearly inspired by Grand Theft Auto.
It’ll allow players to “explore the sights, land your dream job, and move into their new home.”
Brick Life also gets its inevitable and rather tantalizing trailer that you can watch below. The city will open its gates on December 12, giving players a chance to enjoy Odyssey for a bit before moving on to the urban lifestyle.
One thing is for sure: Fortnite’s growth into a full-fledged metaverse is accelerating at a pretty breakneck pace.
Just yesterday, Epic Games announced another mode for Fortnite, titled “Ballistic,” basically bringing a Counter-Strike-like FPS experience into its lineup.
Despite the intake of new content, traditional Fortnite isn’t stopping, and a brand new season has just started, featuring a Japanese and “Japanese-adjacent” style including collaborations with Godzilla and Big Hero 6.
Of course, both experiences will be available for free within Fortnite (with the usual optional microtransaction strings attached) on basically every platform known to men excluding iOS outside of Europe.
