The developers of the upcoming combat flight simulator Korea: IL-2 Series at 1C Games showcased more of what we can expect in terms of content beyond flying.

According to the announcement, damaged wheels will come off vehicles, which will exhibit fully physicalized behavior.

Bullet and shell hits will be visualized on ground vehicles via decals, but they won’t noticeably impact performance.

The new physicalized behavior means that vehicles will collide with each other and environments realistically, instead of simply exploding. They will also react to blast waves.

Cargo will be ejected from vehicles transporting it (including railway cars), and explosive cargo will explode.

Machine guns, canisters, cargo boxes, spare tires, and passengers will get damaged independently, alongside various kinds of guns and trailers.

Crews will leave not only vehicles and guns, but also tanks and ships. They will even be capable of opening doors and hatches.

Below you can check out a video and a few screenshots.

Korea: IL-2 Series is coming to PC, but doesn’t have a release date just yet. Recently, we got to see some interesting animations for the artillery units that will be implemented in the game and the model for the Lavochkin La-11 piston fighter.

If you’re unfamiliar with the IL-2 series, it’s a combat flight simulation series that debuted all the way back in 2001 with IL-2 Sturmovik, set on the Eastern Front for World War II.

At that time, it was very innovative and provided a lot of interesting features in a genre that was already starting to slide out of the AAA field into a much smaller niche. It also came with a rather advanced multiplayer suite for the time.

Over the years, the series has expanded to other fronts and periods, including World War I. Recently, it even received a tank simulator. The next setting is the Korean War, which certainly doesn’t get much simulated attention.
