The DLC is available on Steam for $26.99 and simulates and it includes the Series 185-0 with 10 and 15 cars and the Series 185-200 with 7 and 14 cars.

The train operated in Japan between 1981 and 2021, and you can use it to enjoy several lines, including the Tokaido Line (Tokyo to Atami 104.6km), the Tokaido Freight Line (Odawara to Tokyo 85.4km, Odawara to Shinjuku 86.3km), the Utsunomiya Line (Kuroiso to Omiya 133.0km), and the Takasaki Line (Ueno to Takasaki 101.4km).

At the same time as the DLC, the developer released a small update fixing a bug with platform doors.

You can check out a trailer below.

If you’re unfamiliar with JR East Train Simulator, it’s available for PC via Steam and comes with a massive range of DLC simulating plenty of different trains and lines around Tokyo and Eastern Japan.

While it’s certainly a niche sim compared to more global franchises like Train Sim World 5, it enjoys “mostly positive” reviews and it has a dedicated fanbase. Incidentally, it was developed by Ongakukan, one of the pioneers of the train simulation genre with the Train Simulator franchise that debuted all the way back in 1995.

From the trailer above, you can also see that it looks really neat.

Just a few days ago, JR East (the actual railway operator in the real world), which also publishes the game officially, announced an official and blindingly expensive controller unit for the most professional (or nerdy) of the simulator’s fans.
