The release date trailer includes a mix of stunning gameplay and graphics. Fans can see all the different OEMs the game has partnered with, like Nissan and Mazda. There’s impressive footage in all sorts of weather, lighting, and settings. Gintama, the fictional setting based on Japan, has everything from downtown city streets to a recreated Himeji Castle.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master stands out in part because it incorporates manga into its storytelling. The story follows a Polish driver, Touma, who wants to be known in Japan’s street racing scene. Each event in the game (basically story chapters) starts with manga sequences before turning into a race. Afterward, open-world exploration is available until players want to continue the story by going to the next event marker.

That’s not all — JDM: Japanese Drift Master has a gorgeous anime-style opening, paying homage to one of the greatest racing anime of all time, Initial D.

The game calls itself a simcade racer. While it has realistic simulation mechanics, the cars are also designed to be fun to drive. Each car has its own unique feel and handling with physics that feel both fun and real.

Developers have also been hard at work creating presets for steering wheels and other simulation hardware. Of course, players can adjust the keybinds to make driving feel as comfortable as possible.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master will be released on PC through both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Fans can check out JDM: Rise of the Scorpion, the game’s demo, now on Steam.
