JDM: Japanese Drift Master is a unique, arcade-esque racer that combines manga with Japanese street racing. Players will be able to experience the story through manga panels, while the actual racing is meant to give players a fun escape without having to master difficult driving physics.

The racing is more simcade than simulation, reminiscent of arcade racers that have easy-to-learn mechanics. This makes it a bit more accessible and casual, while still keeping that competitive edge of any drift racing sim.

Players take on the role of a foreigner heading to Japan to rise through the ranks as a drift racer. The game is set in Ichikara, a city based on Tokyo itself. Scenes include references to popular automotive movies and scenes as little easter eggs for car lovers. The open-world style of the game also gives players a lot to explore, taking in the realistic sights of Tokyo from behind the wheel.

Of course, like any racing sim, the cars are a main draw. JDM: Japanese Drift Master has celebrated the past deals it’s signed, bringing in partners like Mazda and Nissan. While there will be several classic drifting vehicles to choose from, players will also be able to modify them to their personal needs.

JDM: Japanese Drift Masters will feature over 40 story missions, plenty of side missions, and challenges to take on. The first of these, a prologue called JDM: Rise of the Scorpion, is available on Steam for free.
