Apex Legends Esports has announced that the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) will be returning to Sapporo, Japan, for the Year 5 and Year 6 Championships after a successful ALGS Year 4 Championship.
According to an announcement from Apex Legends Esports, the ALGS Year 4 Championship was a resounding success. Over 34,000 fans showed up to the event, and it created a new standard for Apex Legends esports.
Because of that success, the ALGS Championships will be held at the Daiwa House Premist Dome in Sapporo for Year 5 and Year 6. These events will be held in January of 2026 and 2027, respectively.
The ALGS Year 5 Championship is already being prepared for as teams are nearing the Midseason Playoffs, which will take place at the Esports World Cup in mid-July. This will determine some of the teams that will make it to Sapporo in January 2026, while others fight for their place through the Split 2 Pro League.
Of course, teams will also duke it out in the Last Chance Qualifier for their last opportunity to make it to the ALGS Year 5 Championship. Throughout the rest of the year, there will be 40 teams that make it to the event, which will consist of a Group Stage, a Bracket Stage, and the Match Point Finals.
The Apex Legends Esports team thanked the City of Sapporo and Mayor Katsuhiro Akimoto for welcoming the event back and for the two-year partnership.
