Today, Arrowhead Games Studios released the latest transmission from Super Earth Command, addressing several high-priority community questions and game updates for Helldivers 2.
Following a dip to “Mostly Negative” reviews on Steam, the developers have outlined a new roadmap for Helldivers 2, promising a significant push for new content and core game improvements starting this summer. According to the post, the overall goal of these is to deliver deeper progression, a more engaging Galactic War, and improved stability.
This change states that it will include improvements such as more meaningful rewards and community progression systems, as well as evolving Major Orders into longer, multi-week, themed campaigns. To enhance replayability, there will be more branching, creating clearer stakes and consequences based on player actions. The transmission teased several major features arriving over the next few months, including new biomes, warfronts, and enemy types.
The Exo Experts Warbond will receive free rewards, and mech customization is still under consideration following recent user feedback. Both new red stratagems, evolving ships, and player progression to level 150 – and beyond – are currently in development.
Currently, closed playtests covering both new content and balance changes, as well as wider internal studio playtests, are underway. Arrowhead is officially exploring a public beta to let players test balance updates before they go live.
Helldivers 2 was originally released back in February 2024 and has been a resounding success. In addition to plenty of rave reviews from both critics and fans, it became the fastest-selling PlayStation game of all time, with over 12 million sold in 12 weeks of its release, and is also Sony’s most successful Windows title.
Since its PC release, the title has faced significant backlash, most notably for its technical issues. While the developers have since implemented improvements to address some of those issues, such as download size, it seems fans are still not all that pleased with the quality of the PC versions.
Helldivers is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for $39.99. For more information on this and the slew of other Warbond and quality of life updates that have been released for the console and PC versions of Helldivers 2, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
