Today, Arrowhead Game Studios detailed the roadmap for the major update coming to its hit third-person shooter, Helldivers 2, titled Machinery of Oppression.
Helldivers 2: Machinery of Oppression is scheduled to run from March through June 2026, focusing on new threats, locations, and expansions arriving in the Galactic War. To start, update 6.0 will center around robot-centric content, introducing the Cyborgs and the massive Vox Engine war machine.
Next, on March 20, 2026, update 6.1 brings back Illuminate and introduces the exostorm system, a planetary condition involving intense wind and lightning, where Divers must destroy Exospires to calm these storms. Illuminate will add Appropriators (shielded enemies), Fleshmobs, and Voteless to their ranks, as well as Fleets that will deploy onto the battlefield at will.

April and June will also see one update added each. Update 6.2 will feature two new biomes, the theater-of-war expansion, a new Warbond that adds fresh gear and weapons, and a new enemy variant. Update 6.3 will add Mega Factories, vehicles, and a limited-time event known as the Battle for Cyberstan.
Speaking of the Battle for Cyberstan, a new mechanic, the Galactic Reinforcement Counter, will track total player deaths and immediately end the battle if the counter reaches zero. Quality-of-life updates will include continuous balancing changes through each month, such as recent adjustments to the Vox Engine’s fire rate and durability.
Helldivers 2 released back in February 2024 and has been a resounding success ever since, with the developers continuing to support the title with free and paid DLC, helping maintain its popularity two years later. The title even became the fastest-selling PlayStation game of all time, selling over 12 million copies in 12 weeks after its release, and is also Sony’s most successful Windows title.
Helldivers 2 is currently available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, starting at a price point of $39.99. For more information on the Sony shooter and plenty of other gaming and sim content, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
