MicroProse has announced that it’ll be publishing Gunship Origins, the upcoming helicopter simulator from indie developer Jammin Games.
Gunship Origins puts players in the role of a US Army helicopter pilot, where they’ll work through dynamically generated missions with a variety of tactical challenges. For example, some missions may ask players to take out enemy armored columns, escort transports in hostile areas, intercept enemy transports, and even go behind enemy lines to take out targets.
In the simulator, players will be able to fly a plethora of iconic helicopters, like the AH-64 Apache, AH-1 Cobra/Viper, and UH-60 Blackhawk.
Players will start as a Warrant Officer Candidate, and they can progress through the Army officer ranks with training and successful combat missions.
The missions in Gunship Origins can be done solo or with up to eight friends. Friends can either take seats in the player’s helicopter or go on a multi-aircraft flight for more complex missions.
Gunship Origins lets players play with a range of attachments or none at all, so players can play with a mouse and keyboard or complex sim setups.
Gunship Origins doesn’t have a release date yet, but it is available to wishlist on Steam. A trailer announcing that MicroProse is the publisher can be seen below, which offers a look at what both in and out of combat will look like.
