Ground of Aces Warplans Update Adds 16 New Missions, Expands Aerial Battles, & More

Ground of Aces warplans

Today, Blindflug Studios released the next major update for the early access version of its base builder and management simulator, Ground of Aces.

Ground of Aces Warplans is the third major update to hit the WWII base-building strategy game since its release, adding new missions, a redesigned mission system, expanded aerial battle animations, and new defensive tools. The goal of the update is to increase strategic depth across base management and aerial operations, while implementing a handful of quality-of-life changes based on user feedback.

Missions are one of the biggest focuses of the update, as there are 16 new missions, including 10 challenging endgame missions and six new stealth missions, and a new mission map that displays locations and connected missions from a partial view of Europe. The Vickers AA gun, which was teased earlier this month, also brings an entire new layer and depth to aerial battles.

The Vickers Machine gun only needs one person to operate and costs two slots to ship, but is weaker than the Bofors and is limited in its turning radius, meaning it needs to be strategically aimed at paths enemies could come from. This should help players navigate early game problems a bit easier when it comes to base defense, even if it won’t be nearly as useful down the line.

Other changes include:

For those unaware, Ground of Aces puts players in the shoes of an air base commander, tasked with building a base and commanding an illustrious fleet of aircraft. You’ll be in charge of selecting the right aircraft for each mission while also hearing the stories of the crews that pilot each craft along the way.

The military base simulator is currently available in early access on PC. For more information on this and other indie simulation titles on Steam, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
