Ground of Aces, a cute management sim set in World War II, has received a rather large Alpha 3 update, adding new aircraft, missions, and systems while improving the content already in the game.
To start things off, four new aircraft were brought to the game: Bristol Beaufighter, Gloster Gladiator, Avro Lancaster, and Bristol Blenheim.
There are also new missions and mission types to send crew on:
- Bombing Runs
- Fighter Missions
- Skill Missions
- Stealth Missions
- Surveillance Missions
- Transport Missions
The mission systems themselves have been explored a bit more. There are new stats, modifiers, and mission consequences logic.
Plus, several new systems have been added. A plane maintenance system helps players manage the integrity, fuel, and health of each plane, which also creates a fuel resource. Plus, multi-seat plane logic and a pilot class/task system are also part of this. There’s also a new 3D preview of each plane that players can see when they buy it.
A new gardening system lets players gather seeds from wild plants, including beans, grain, potatoes, and tomatoes. Players can assign areas to be gardening zones, which lets them grow their own food and seeds.
There are new building assets to design each base with:
- Fences
- Fuel tanks
- Hanger floors, walls, and roofs
- Metal shelves
- Two new sizes for parking spots
- Water pumps
A ton of other improvements came with the Alpha 3 update, including more metal wrecks, improved pathing for planes, particle effects, visual effects, faster renovating, and cheaper costs for certain projects. Players can see a full list of changes here.
Ground of Aces also shared what they’re working on for the Alpha 4 update. Even more new systems are coming, including an HQ relationship system and a weekly resource delivery system. Improvements to plane takeoffs and taxiing and the game’s performance are also on the list, as well as more decorations.
Ground of Aces developer and publisher Blindflug Studios goes through every change in an in-depth Alpha 3 update video, which can be viewed below:
