The Global Esports Federation (GEF) and the General Assembly recently held their year-end meeting and 5th General Assembly, in which they discussed how they’d expanded their global footprint in the ever-growing world of esports.
In 2024, the Global Esports Federation accomplished several key milestones surrounding its growth as an organization. Over 25 new Member Federations were added, increasing the total membership to 178 members in total.
Over 6.1 million people watched a combined 2.5 million hours of the Counter-Strike 2 competition that took place in Rio de Janeiro across YouTube and Twitch, which is a part of Season 4 of the Global Esports Tour. The next season is scheduled to take place at some point in 2025, heading to India, Italy, North America, Peru, Brazil, and Turkey.
When speaking about the future, GEF CEO Paul J. Foster shared his excitement:
“As we close out 2024, we reflect on our progress in building connections, expanding our global reach, and igniting innovation across esports. In 2025, we will build on this foundation, driving development and enabling even greater unity within the #worldconnected community.”
The Global Esports Federation originally launched back in 2019 and is responsible for hosting a myriad of big esports events, including the Global Esports Tour and Global Esports Games. Each sees competitors compete in a variety of different titles, including Dota 2, PES 2021, eFootball 2023 Street Fighter 6, and PUBG Mobile.
