The latest look at 1666: Amsterdam introduces Noa, heir to an ancient lineage of Zaindaris tasked with hunting the Originals, and Aaron, who is mysteriously transported 300 years into the past and trapped inside the body of a cat. Though separated by centuries, the pair must work together to uncover hidden truths and confront an ancient force threatening the balance of the world.

We also get a first look at the mystical tools and supernatural abilities available to Noa, while also highlighting the unique connection between the two protagonists and the role it plays throughout the adventure.

The newly detailed dual-timeline gameplay system allows players to alternate between Noa and Aaron, whose actions directly influence one another across time. Set between Amsterdam in 1666 and a near-future version of the city, the story links both eras through exploration, environmental puzzles and lasting consequences rather than treating them as separate campaigns.

As Aaron, players rely on stealth, survival and period-appropriate tools to hide journals, secure artifacts, create secret passages and leave coded messages that endure for centuries. As Noa, players use advanced technology, forensic investigation and digital reconstruction to uncover those clues, unlocking new paths and revealing discoveries Aaron intentionally left behind.

Every decision made in 1666 can reshape the modern world, altering locations, uncovering hidden routes and changing the course of future investigations. Information is just as important as physical objects, with knowledge gained in one era opening new possibilities in the other.

Although Noa and Aaron never meet, they develop a relationship through journals, sketches, hidden messages and personal artifacts. According to the developers, the interconnected timeline is intended to make the bond between the two protagonists a central gameplay mechanic, with every action in one century creating opportunities in the next.

A free prologue for the game is currently available. For more information on 1666: Amsterdam and other upcoming RPGs, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
