Before the latest expansion Dawntrail, Final Fantasy XIV players witnessed the story of Zero and the Thirteenth reflection, but their fate has been left open at the end of the 6.X main story quest cycle.
During a livestreamed Q&A panel at the beginning of the second data of the Korean Fan Festival in Seoul, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida was asked whether it’s possible that the Thirteenth will appear in future stories and we might get to learn what happened to Zero.
Yoshida-san answered that Final Fantasy XIV will continue for a very long time, so he believes that at some point we might indeed see what happened to the Thirteenth and Zero’s adventures.
During the finale of the story in patch 6.5 “Growing Light” we saw Zero ally with the previous villain Golbez to try and restore the Thirteenth whole also providing what may be the key to help restore the First as well.
Yet, as we part with Zero and Golbez, we don’t get to see the results of these efforts, or at least, not yet.
Knowing Yoshida-san’s modus operandi, it’s quite possible that he already has something in mind for the future, albeit that’s just personal speculation.
Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. The new expansion, titled “Dawntrail” was released in early July.
Lately, we heard the first information about patch 7.1, while additional screenshots of new features were shown at PAX West and even more images and details were shared yesterday during the first day of the Seoul Fan Festival.
