Today, Square Enix released a gallery of screenshots of the upcoming patch 7.4 for Final Fantasy XIV, which will be titled “Into the Mist.”
We get to see a tease of the main story content alongside our new adversaries from the Arcadion: Heavyweight Division raids.
We then move on to Mistwake, the new instanced dungeon that will be available in the patch. Interestingly, we get to see the gear set that you’ll be able to drop while fighting in the dungeon, which I’d say is particularly inspired, albeit that’s just my personal opinion.
More screenshots showcase Hell on Rails, the new trial, which will likely tie into the story. The boss appears to be inspired by Doomtrain from Final Fantasy VIII.
Speaking of trials, we also get a screenshot of Tsukuyomi’s Pain (Unreal). Too soon, Square Enix, too soon.
If you want to learn more about patch 7.4, you can read our recap of the Letter from the Producer Live 89, which was all about it. Incidentally, Letter from the Producer Live 90 will be next week on December 5, and it’ll show actual gameplay from the update.
Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’d like to read more, you can check out what Yoshida-san himself said about the collaboration with Monster Hunter Wilds.
Incidentally, Final Fantasy XIV is one of the pillars of Square Enix’s game lineup, with its recurring revenue making the MMO segment the most profitable among the publisher’s businesses.
