Today, Electronic Arts released the start of its latest update, “The World’s Game”, cross-platform for EA Sports FC 26 and EA Sports FC Mobile. This massive update brings international football to the forefront just ahead of the summer tournament cycle, adding newly licensed national teams, an exclusive tournament mode, and refined gameplay features.
EA Sports FC “The World’s Game” update will officially launch its main tournament mode on June 4, 2026, though an initial gameplay and server update began last week on May 28, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Mobile.
The update includes fully licensed nations qualified for the real-world summer tournament, including giants like the US, England, Germany, and Brazil, as well as unlicensed squads with authentic real-life player names. Game mode integration is pretty straightforward, as the international tournament structure can be fully accessed in both Kick-Off and Career Mode, featuring End-of-Season Live Starting Points so you can jump right into management before the tournament kicks off.
For the online portion of the event, you know it wouldn’t be EA Sports if there weren’t a heavy emphasis placed on Ultimate Team. This mode is all about the “Festival of Football,” which boasts themed campaigns, dedicated objectives, and a 93 OVR Festival of Football ICON Pelé player item that is rewarded to anyone who logs in between June 5 and July 2.
- Path To Glory (June 5 – June 19): Opens the Festival of Football celebrations, following the journey of each nation with live Player Items that upgrade alongside the international action.
- Greats of the Game (June 19 – June 26): Introducing two new ICONS, Mario Kempes and Rivellino, to honor big-name players who defined eras of The World’s Game.
- Glory Hunters (June 26 – July 10): Brings PlayStyle customization to selected Player Items for more control over squad building.
- Phenoms (July 10 – July 17): Shines a light on football’s next generation. Spotlighting young players and debutants looking to stand out as the world watches on.
- Summer Stars (July 17 – July 24): The Festival of Football finale culminates in a celebration of the biggest moments and greatest performers.
Live-tracked promos are also starting June 5, including Path to Glory, Greats of the Game, Glory Hunter, Phenoms, and Summer Stars. To enhance the international ambiance, new stadiums are being added, creating authentic matchday atmospheres at real-world locations like Gillette Stadium and BMO Field.
Alongside this, EA Sports FC 26 title update v1.6.0 introduces immediate mechanic alterations directly derived from player telemetry:
- Bruiser PlayStyle: Slightly reduced physical shoulder-bashing stagger impact. Defending or dribbling players with clear strength advantages experience much cleaner recovery and realistic stumble trajectories.
- Enforcer counter-buff: Receivers of a shoulder challenge who possess the Enforcer or Enforcer+ PlayStyle now receive an equal physical resistance boost to fight off pressure.
- Intercept Mechanic: Players without the explicit Intercept PlayStyle but possessing an Interceptions attribute rating of 90+ automatically gain access to elite interception animations.
- Team Press: Defending in your own half will no longer allow AI players to automatically double-team a carrier if a user-controlled defender is already tight. Marking tightness has been opened up slightly to reward precise manual positioning.
EA Sports FC 26 Clubs and Career Mode also get some upgrades thanks to this title update. In clubs, the maximum level cap for Pro Archetypes stretches from 90 up to 95, giving characters a 9th PlayStyle slot and a 4th Signature PlayStyle slot that transforms into a PlayStyle+ at max level.
For Career, new End-of-Season Live Start Points let players jump straight into an active manager or player save on the eve of the International Men’s Tournament, featuring authentic real-world squad updates.
