Today, Bungie Co-founder Alex Seropian revealed and launched Dungeonauts, a competitive RPG dungeon-crawler that is available for free in Fortnite.
Dungeonauts is the first procedurally generated RPG ever created in Fortnite and will feature a story written by Alex Irvine, who is best known for his work on Dungeons & Dragons, Marvel Rivals, and numerous superhero comics. The story is all about the legends of Grimjaw, an elemental evil that arises periodically to ruin and destroy everything in its path.
To prevent Grimjaw from fully taking over, you’ll need to band together with allies and collect powers by traversing the dungeons that make up the gritty world. Players will team up to explore the town of Talinor, which features endless dungeons and battle through waves of monsters and bosses as they progress through ranks, upgrade builds, conquer dungeons and bosses, and face off in a PvP Arena for rewards.
The Dungeons and Dragons-inspired RPG has three classes: Razor Jaw (fast, brawler), Skybreaker (nimble, aerial), and Thunder Heart (lightning, healer). Each one plays its own role, which will be vital to team composition to complete the six different mission types and five difficulty levels that will be available at launch.
Dungeonauts is one of the many titles that have been made in Fortnite for players, which is made possible thanks to the Fortnite Island Creator Program. Initially launched back in 2023, the program allows eligible island creators to receive engagement payouts based on how much players interact with their published islands.
