Hound13 has revealed a new look at the combat of its upcoming anime-style single-player RPG DragonSword: Awakening, using the main character and two others to showcase the tag-team style fighting.
The showcase features Lute (the main character of the gacha-less RPG), Castella, and Aria. Each of these characters is a member of Johnny Mercenary, and they play off of each other well.
Castelle starts the lineup, using her abilities to Break and Stun enemies. Lute comes in next, Stunning the enemies again and knocking them down. Last is Aria, who uses bombs to apply both Fire and Airborne status effects to enemies before going back to Castelle.
Fans can check out the tag combo preview below to see it all in action:
The video also gives some insight into the fighting styles of Lute, Castella, and Aria. Other characters have also been revealed lately, including Kalien and one of the inquisitors of the Organa Order, Theresia.
Each of the 19 heroes has the ability to inflict various Status Ailments with their abilities, like Luta, Castella, and Aria are seen doing.
In case you haven’t heard, DragonSword: Awakening is coming to the West as a gacha-less RPG despite its free-to-play, gacha model in Korea from publisher Webzen. The game is being published on Steam by developers Hound13 after a dispute with the Korean publisher, which has actually turned into a lawsuit.
Despite this, Hound13 has reassured players that there’s nothing to worry about, and DragonSword: Awakening is still set to release in July of 2026 on PC. There’s also a demo planned for June 2026.
