Square Enix has revealed that Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is getting a demo tomorrow, and the news came with the reveal of the opening movie.
To start with, the demo for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will be available tomorrow, January 7, 2026. Players will be able to try it out on every platform (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2).
The progress that players make in the demo will carry over to the full game when it’s released, too.
Players who have saved data for the demo and use it for the full game will receive a reward: Maribel’s “Day Off Dress.”
This demo is a great way for players to try the game early, especially if they’re on the fence about buying the game. Since there are pre-order rewards, including a costume for the Hero, this is a great way to try the game before losing out on the exclusive costume (along with 3 Seeds of Proficiency).
That’s not all the news Square Enix had — it also dropped the two-minute opening movie. At the end of the video, fans will also get a look at Maribel’s reward costume, too. Fans can watch it below:
Square Enix is no stranger to remaking the infamous Dragon Quest games. Dragon Quest 1, 2, and 3 each had impressive HD-2D remakes in the past years.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is set to release on February 5, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
