Last week, Bandai Namco announced the social deduction game Death Note Killer Within. Today, they revealed even more information, detailing both a gameplay trailer and a release map for when the game arrives on PS4, PS5, and PC (Steam) on November 5, 2024.
In the original announcement, we learned that Death Note Killer Within will be multiplayer, placing 10 players on one of two teams: L or Kira. Depending on your team, you’ll either be tasked with identifying and killing world-renowned detective L or seize the Death Note from Kira.
Regardless of the team you’re on, the true identity of Kira and L are hidden. Only one player can assume the role of each, while everyone else will either be a Kira follower or an investigator. The trailer below sheds some light on how exactly you’ll do this.
The goal of team Kira is to steal IDs from other players and use them to eliminate them by bringing them to the player controlling Kira. Team L must gather information to share to reveal Kira’s identity by completing specific tasks. Both of these take place during the action phase.
The next phase is a meeting phase, during which you’ll come together to try to arrest Kira based on the evidence you’ve gathered. If the investigators fail to get Kira before they’ve all been killed or if L is found and killed, then the game is over.
The concept is very similar to Among Us but with a few unique twists.
Death Note Killer Within will be available as a part of the PS Plus monthly games lineup as soon as it releases. A Death Note Killer Within Special Edition will also be available alongside the base version of the game, featuring a Premium Customisation Track Vol. 1 and an Accessory Pack.
