The popular World War 2 map will reach the full release milestone with the next update, which is scheduled to include plenty of changes and additions.

The biggest and most visible change will be the addition of winter textures, providing the map with much-needed seasonal flexibility.

7 new airfields will be implemented: Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey, Headcorn, Holmsley South, Northolt Saint-Pol-Bryas, and Bembridge.

Of course, this means that the Channel Islands of Jersey, Guernsey, and Alderney will be added as well.

Existing airfields have also gotten a facelift, receiving updated scenes, new fortifications, and period-accurate facilities. These include Kenley, Ford, and High Halden.

The map will also get more landmarks, including the Royal Albert Hall, Dover Castle, Grand Opera, Wembley Stadium, Notre-Dame de Rouen, and the Moulin Rouge, on top of new stadiums, hospitals, and new German radar installations.

Lastly, work has been done to improve forests and the general topography of the map as a whole.

You can find a few screenshots showing the winter textures below.

It’s worth mentioning that the map is currently priced at $47.99, but after it leaves early access, it’ll be priced at its full price of $59.99.

If you’re unfamiliar with DCS World, it’s a free-to-play flight simulator focusing on military aviation from World War 2 to the present day. It’s available exclusively for PC.

While the sim is free-to-play, it pretty much requires paid modules to be fully enjoyed, including aircraft, campaigns, and maps. That being said, Eagle Dynamics has a robust free trial program for said modules.

Recently, the C-130J Hercules was made available for pre-order, and the MiG-29A Fulcrum has been released in early access. On top of that, we heard about the Pacific Theatre of Operations 1944 Assets Pack.

The developer also provided a look at more content coming this year and beyond, including an F-15C Eagle and an F-35 Lightning II.
