The aircraft, which is available for pre-order, is making “excellent progress,” and the module has been added to DCS World’s internal build. Integration testing is now underway to ensure compatibility with the simulator’s systems.

Interestingly, the developers are creating a new system that is going to let the Hercules operate as a mobile FARP (Forward Arming and Refueling Point), able to resupply friendly aircraft at any location on the map, directly using resources carried inside the aircraft.

This, together with the cargo system, will be new gameplay mechanics that will enhance the logistics and support aspects of DCS World.

The MOAB (GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast) bomb is also being worked on, including its drop animations, explosive yield, and explosion effect size. It’s one of the largest conventional bombs in the US arsenal, weighing a massive 9 tons.

Since this is a complex module, the developers aren’t ready to provide a release date. It’ll depend on the results of the testing phase.

If you’re unfamiliar with DCS World, it’s a free-to-play flight simulator focusing on military aviation from World War 2 to the present day. It’s available exclusively for PC.

While the sim is free-to-play, it pretty much requires paid modules to be fully enjoyed, including aircraft, campaigns, and maps. That being said, Eagle Dynamics has a robust free trial program for said modules.

Recently, the MiG-29A Fulcrum has been released in early access and Eagle Dynamics provided a look at more content coming this year and beyond, including an F-15C Eagle and an F-35 Lightning II.
