Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has confirmed its return to Netflix this fall, bringing a brand-new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
The second season will have 10 episodes and a standalone narrative, introducing a new cast and story separate from the first series. Early details reveal backstories for four main characters of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2: Roman Carax, Talia Yang, D, and Weak “King” Kingsley.

Roman Carax is a young cinephile who uses an old camcorder to document Night City’s legends, focusing on its violence and atmosphere. He is expected to connect the main characters.
Talia Yang is a former corpo and operative who left the towers for life on the streets, even enduring the trials of joining Malestrom, where she became obsessed with cyberware before going independent. She is known for her pink hair, tactical mask, agility, and skill in repairing her own cyberware.
D is a Sasuke-like netrunner with navy-blue hair, a prominent facial scar, and glowing green cyber-optics. He comes from the Snake Nation and is hunting the killer who wiped out his clan.
Weak “King” Kingsley is a veteran Edgerunner who serves as the heavy muscle on missions. He wears tinted shades, carries a custom-painted heavy cannon, and shows signs of cyberpsychosis.
Alongside plenty of looks at new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 characters, the teaser also shows off some familiar locales and corporations from the Cyberpunk universe, including run-ins with Arasaka and Malestrom.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners originally debuted on Netflix in September 2022, produced by animation studio Trigger (Little Witch Academia, Kill la Kill, & Gurren Lagann) and CD Projekt Red.
Set before the events of Cyberpunk 2077, the series followed David Martinez as he became an edgerunner in Night City. The anime earned critical acclaim for its animation and storytelling, winning Anime of the Year at the 2023 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
The success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners boosted sales and concurrent player counts for Cyberpunk 2077, despite the negative reception the game had received since its release back in 2020. The anime’s release is seen as a turning point for the video game, helping it win back fans who were previously turned off by its poor launch.
CD Projekt Red even launched a free Edgerunners content update inspired by the series. This update included gear like David’s jacket and quest content that enhanced the city’s ambiance and furthered characters’ stories from the anime.
