As indicated both by the name of the game and the contents of the trailer below, Copa City is being dubbed the first-ever football tycoon game. Where the FIFA/EA Sports FC and Football Manager series have focused on everything surrounding the beautiful game, this new simulation game takes it a step further.

Copa City requires players to build and grow a football town from the ground up. To do this, you’ll need to make money, build hype, adapt to your location, and pay close attention to your fans. While doing so, you’ll also have to take into account emotions and environment.

If your catering and fun are high but your accommodations and safety are lacking, then your profit and fans will be negatively affected. The type of game mode you’re playing will also have a large role on how to approach situations.

Campaign mode is all about organizing matches and organizing the lead-up and post-game process in order to gain access to even more challenges that will earn you money. Challenge mode and single-match mode are more short-term, allowing players to complete unique scenarios or simply one-and-done an event – though each also have a leaderboard where you can compete against other tycoons.

Currently, only three licensed clubs (Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Flamengo), as well as two cities (Warsaw – PGE Narodowy Stadium & Berlin -Olympiastadion), have been announced. Three more clubs and one more city are slated to be announced before Copa City releases in 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
