Bandai Namco has revealed a fairly extensive gameplay showcase of the upcoming anime soccer game Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters.
The game, announced during a Nintendo Direct last month, is a sequel to the 2020 title Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, and will drive the story forward to the World Cup.
The video released today showcases exactly what you’d expect from Captain Tsubasa, in the form of spectacular super moves that have nothing to do with real soccer, but definitely track with the spirit of the anime.
Here’s a brief recap of what you’re about to see and how it works.
- Max Actions: High risk, high reward power moves that dominate offensive and defensive exchanges.
- Super Moves: Character specific abilities for forwards, midfielders, and defenders, including Super Shots, Super Passes, Super Dribbles, and Super Tackles.
- Chain System: Build momentum through dribbles, passes, and special actions to amplify shot power and charge speed.
- Goalkeeper Tactics: Six directional shot prediction, stamina-based duels, and break mechanics that permanently reduce keeper stamina.
- Miracle Actions: Rare, dramatic comeback moments that can turn the tide of a match, capturing the unpredictable spirit of the original series.

Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters will release at some point in 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
If you’re unfamiliar with Captain Tsubasa, it’s a manga series by Yoichi Takahashi that debuted in 1981 and sparked a massively popular anime that has been part of the childhood of multiple generations in many nations from the eighties onward.
If you were a kid in Europe back then, watching Captain Tsubasa was most likely one of your favorite daily routines, so you certainly don’t need me to tell you what it is about.
