Soga, the developer behind Cabin Crew Life Simulator, provided a touching and heartfelt explanation of the journey and inspiration that led to the creation of the simulator for its eighteenth devlog.

Soga consists of developers Simon and his wife — they’re the only two developers, and they worked on Cabin Crew Life Simulator for a year together. The two of them tackled everything, including programming, illustration, the dialogue script, and even the voice recordings.

The budget for Cabin Crew Life Simulator came entirely from their wedding gifts, as they were out of savings after a “painful failure” following the release of their horror game, Taken Soul.

Because of the difficult release of Taken Soul, Simon sought advice from his mother about whether they should continue or whether he should go back to his job. Another failure meant losing everything, but his heart was calling him to game development.

His mother pushed him to not give up and to continue doing what he loves. The two did just that, and Cabin Crew Life Simulator came to life.

A few months before the simulator launched, Simon’s mother was diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer. She’d downplayed her symptoms, but right before the simulator launched, Simon found out the truth.

Simon and his wife packed everything — computers, hardware, monitors, and more — to return to his hometown and be with his mom. Despite the massive adjustment and the looming diagnosis, the two didn’t miss any deadlines or delay Cabin Crew Simulator at all.

From that point on, Simon’s mother was with them for the rest of development, along with the simulator’s launch. The launch was very successful, with day one sales hitting $10k and first month sales hitting $105k.

This money let them help his mother, paying for medicines and hospital fees to get her the care she needed. However, her condition continued to get worse, and updates to Cabin Crew Simulator were affected.

On June 18, 2025, Simon’s mother passed away. Simon shared that her final wish was that, should his fortune turn around, he would do charity work and help those less fortunate than him.

Simon and his wife are striving to fulfill that wish, starting with words of encouragement for everyone:

  • “You don’t need to be perfect to start.”
  • “Don’t give up on your dreams because of adversity, and don’t abandon life for your dreams.”
  • “Every dream needs a companion.”
  • “If you still have loved ones, care for them and love them more every day.”

The story told in Simon’s own words can be read here on Steam. Players can check out the latest updates to Cabin Crew Life Simulator here at Simulation Daily, which have included a new airport, airbus, and more in the recent months.
