Blizzard Entertainment had quite a few interesting pieces of news to share from Blizzcon, including fully new games, some of which perhaps announced a tad on the early side.

We start with Diablo 5, which will release in spring 2029, yes, three years from now. As you imagine, the game is in early development, and Blizzard plans to reveal more starting from 2027.

The dark fantasy saga will go even darker, as Sanctuary has been conquered by Diablo himself. The arch-enemy rules from the throne of Westmarch an uses its people and their souls to fuel the Eternak Conflict.

The player will aptly play the role of the heir to the lost kingdom of Westmarch, at the same time somehow connected to Diablo, a threat to the demon, but also liable to be influenced by him.

The fact that Sanctuary is now basically hell means that it’ll chamge shape every time you play. Survival depends on sticking to caravans to cross the wasteland, with unique NPCs including a former Sister of the Sightless Eye and a Treasure Goblin.

Blizzard also revealed three classes, the Demon Hunter, Monk, and all-new Plague Knight, but there will be more classes to be revealed down the line.

Loot will be inspired by Diablo 2. Gear will have stat requirements. Size will be relevant to the inventory space taken by each item, while runes, runewords, and gear sets will make a comeback.

If you want more details, Blizzard has a mailing list signup on the official site. Don’t expect to find much more, though, besides the teaser trailer below.

The second game announced is a Starcraft open-world shooter, which is coming in spring 2030. It’s totally what the series’ fans wanted, right?

We also get the announcement of World of Warcraft: Forever, a third way to enhoy the popular MMORPG.

It fatures “a familiar yet fresh Azeroth where the world takes center stage, community comes first, and the journey matters as much as the destination.”

It’s set after the events of Warcraft 3 Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, featuring the original continents reimagined and a level cap at 60.

A new Skyborne race will be available, and there will be new dungeons and stories to enjoy.

Since I mentioned Warcraft 3 Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom, you may be wondering what that is. It’s a new campaign for Warcraft 3 Reforged set after the fall of Lordaeron.

It’s available now on Battle.net.
