Today, Kunos Simulazioni officially released early access update 0.2 for its hit racing simulator, Assetto Corsa EVO. The new patch boasts a slew of gameplay improvements and new features.
Assetto Corsa EVO update 0.2 introduces a main gameplay split for players. Now, you can play in either Open Mode or Career Mode.
Open Mode is completely offline, allowing immediate access to all vehicles and vehicle customization, without any progression or driving license requirement. Career Mode is a bit more progression-based, as you’ll follow the path of the Driving Academy, complete races, and earn rewards as you move up the ranks in your career.
New cars and tracks in the latest update include:
Cars
- Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA
- Lotus Exige V6 Cup
- Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 (964)
- Mazda MX-5 (NA)
- Honda NSX-R
- Maserati GT2
- Alfa Romeo 75 1.8 Turbo Evoluzione
Tracks
- Circuit of the Americas
- Donington Park
A brand new game mode called Custom Race Weekend will also allow players to create their complete race event. You’ll have full control over adding and customizing Practice, Qualifying, Warm Up, and the Race event itself, which can be done both in laps or time-based sessions.
Lastly, a Replay Gallery is now available as of the Assetto Corsa EVO update 0.2. Here, you’ll be able to look through the saved replay files you’ve made. You can either look over previous clips for the sake of nostalgia or customize them with different angles and looks to create dynamic recordings you can show off as a highlight reel.
While it is still in the early stages of its release, this racing sim continues to build momentum within the community thanks to free updates like the one above. Assetto Corsa EVO is currently available on Steam, starting at $39.99.
