Today, Ubisoft just revealed a brand new look at their upcoming action-adventure epic, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The first episode of this behind-the-scenes spotlight series showcases the different approaches and playstyles players will use while controlling each protagonist, Naoe & Yasuke.

While both Yasuke and Naoe are assassins who rely on killing to get the job done, the way they go about it looks completely different in the trailer. Naoe is all about speed and agility, lending the usual quick assassinations fans will be used to from earlier games in the series. Just like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Yasuke is closer to a Viking, focusing more on brute strength and power to take down his enemies, which can be a little bit less stealthy but just as effective.

Players will be able to level up each character’s skill trees individually, each of which will contain skills that fit their style. This means Yasuke won’t have the same assassinations as Naoe, as their playstyles are entirely different.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the 14th major installment in the series and will be the first game in the Infinity saga. It will be set during the Sengoku period of Japan, taking place around the 16th century. Last month, Ubisoft addressed concerns about the game from its Japanese fanbase, who took umbrage with the accuracy of Yasuke’s role in Japanese history, which you can read more about here.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on November 15, 2024. For more on the game, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
