Bohemia Interactive has just launched the next major update for its authentic military simulator sandbox shooter, Arma Reforger. Update 1.3: Fire Support is arguably the biggest patch for the game since it fully launched in 2023, boasting an arsenal of new vehicles, weapons, and gameplay enhancements that significantly reshape the combat experience.
Infantry gets two new additions: the LAV-25 and the BRDM-2. The former is a US vehicle equipped with a 25mm M242 autocannon and 7.62mm M240 coaxial machine gun with 7x optical sights, while the latter is a lighter reconnaissance vehicle for Soviet and FIA forces, featuring a 14.5mm KPVT machine gun and 7.62mm PKT.
Gunships changes include making the UH-1H and Mi-8MT helicopters more than just transport aircraft. Each gunship now has variants with detachable rocket pods, advanced collimator sights for precision targeting, multiple ammunition options, and enhanced firepower.
One of the most exciting new features is the realistic and immersive mortar systems. This lets you suppress enemy advances, disrupt supply lines, and rain destruction from kilometers away, and includes the Soviet 2B14 82mm mortar and US M252 81mm mortar. Alongside this, truly dynamic destruction has been added, as buildings will now collapse and trees will fall to reshape the environment.
Other notable changes include:

- Expanded Vehicle Logistics: Transport trucks (M923A1, URAL-4320) now carry up to 1,500 supplies. New UAZ-452 transport and cargo variants improve mobility and supply capacity. FIA forces now have access to UAZ-452, BTR-70, and BRDM-2 vehicles. Civilian variants of UH-1H and Mi-8 helicopters have been introduced.
- Ranked Ammunition Supply Depots: Players must rank up before accessing more advanced weapons and gear, balancing the arsenal system.
- Conflict Mode Enhancements: Players can no longer spawn on contested bases, making strategy and planning more critical. Capture timers now depend on radio network connectivity, increasing tactical depth. Smaller conflict game modes have been introduced for faster-paced battles.
- AI Upgrades: AI soldiers now track moving targets better, take cover more effectively, counterattack, and execute flanking maneuvers, making them a deadlier and more realistic threat.
This is just one of the many updates Arma Reforger has introduced since it arrived in early access back in 2022. Due to constant updates and changes, Bohemia Interactive has built a dedicated community, which led to the recent milestone of over 1.15 million units sold across all platforms.
Arma Reforger places a heavy emphasis on realism, allowing players to see what it would be like in a Cold War gone hot conflict between the United States, the Soviet Union, and Everon-based rebels. It is currently available on PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
