Ara: History Untold Announces Its Massive v2.0 Revolutions Update

Today, Oxide Games revealed the next new v2.0 Revolutions, the next big update coming to its turn-based grand strategy title, Ara: History Untold.

Ara: History Untold Version 2.0 is an update all about community feedback, adding in plenty of features that fans have been eager to see since its release last year. It will introduce a new Culture and Influence System, give each nation its own unique unit, give greater player control while simultaneously reducing micromanagement, improve performance, and include a major AI revamp.

The Culture and influence system will appear as a new quality of life category in cities. Culture generates Influence, which in turn can be used as currency to acquire cultural traits and expand territory through claims, thus creating alternatives to military expansion.

For units, v2.0 Revolutions adds Per Nation forces and an Agitator. Every civilization now commands unique historical forces, from Mongol Horse Archers to Japanese Samurai, adding tactical depth and flavor, while also having access to Agitators that can be sent into adjacent foreign regions to stir rebellion and, through Influence, bring those territories into your nation. This also unlocks a second form of conquest in Act II, called ideological subversion.

The Priority and Quota Crafting System is something players will love for management purposes, as it streamlines production queues and replaces them with smarter stockpile and priority controls, freeing players to focus on high-level strategy. Adaptive AI also proves a more dynamic and personal experience, as it now responds to player performance, making diplomacy, warfare, and resource management more challenging and believable.

Other small quality of life improvements include: map generation improvements, high DPI UI and visual updates, and performance boosts. These will all lead to sharper visuals, faster turns, smoother framerates, and reduced CPU usage.

Ara: History Untold is currently available on PC (Steam for $59.99). For more info on this and other strategy titles on the platform, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
