Today, American Truck Simulator developer SCS Software officially released update 1.55 with new features and truck reworks.
The update, which has been in beta for a couple of weeks, brings upgrades to the Kenworth T680, the Freightliner Cascadia, and the Farm Machinery DLC, on top of the Asynchronous Loading, but there’s plenty more to enjoy.
The Driving Academy is getting an additional Truck Driving Proficiency Test, which includes some challenging scenarios that involve additional conditions for passing and let you earn 3 collectable stars depending on how well you do. New rewards have also been implemented.
The Nebraska DLC is also getting an expansion, with the settlement of Laurel and three new highways: The US-20, US-75, and US-81.
You’ll also be able to paint FlowBelow parts to complement your livery (or contrast with it, why not?), while the New Mexico DLC is getting custom city intros for Farmington, Las Cruces, Roswell, and Santa Fe.
The mail menu is getting a redesign, while the graphics options will show their effect with dedicated screenshots in order to be more intuitive.
The map is getting a small quality-of-life improvement with a hotkey that centers it on your position, while Steam Achievements are being shifted to a new system.

American Truck Simulator is available exclusively for PC, and it’s the sister game to Euro Truck Simulator 2.
We already know that Iowa will be the next DLC to release, coming on July 10, 2025. If you want to see more, you can enjoy a look at Iowa’s fields, the truck stops, the towns, the road network, more settlements, the bridges, an Ethanol plant, the farming industry, the river ports, and the city of Davenport.
We also recently saw plenty of gameplay showing a route from a feedmill depot near Waterloo to an agricultural facility close to Iowa City.
SCS Software also recently revealed Illinois, of which you can see the truck stops, the city of Marion, and Rockford. Another DLC that we know is coming is Louisiana, and we saw its truck stops, welcome centers, buildings, and some cities.
The latest DLC announced by the developer is South Dakota, while a rework has been revealed for the areas around the famous Route 66.
Perhaps the most interesting recent announcement is the Road Trip mode, which will let you drive pickup trucks and other vehicles in the same world that has been reserved for cargo transport until now, including new reasons to drive and explore.
