Frontier Developments recently revealed Planet Coaster 2, looking to repeat the success of its first theme park management simulator.
Not only does the new game feature new features and improvements, but it also introduces a whole new category of water park-focused attractions.
To hear more about the upcoming game, Simulation Daily interviewed Senior Executive Producer Adam Woods at Gamescom 2024 in Cologne, right in the middle of a crowded booth where fans were able to try the game with a dedicated demo.
Woods provided insight into the new features that we can expect from the game, including the water attractions, the new pathing features, and the overhauled building tools that enable even more customization options.
We also hear about the level of simulation complexity implemented into the title, on top of Woods’ opinion on this prolific area of the industry.

Planet Coaster 2 is coming this year for PC, PS5, And Xbox Series X|S.
The game is the successor of the popular Planet Coaster, which launched all the way back in 2016 and brought a breath of fresh air to the theme park management simulation sub-genre thanks to its deep customization and user-created content.
Plenty of user creations are posted on the Steam Workshop nowadays, despite the fact that the game is now eight years old and a sequel is coming soon, which is certainly a testament to its popularity and to the freedom of expression and customization it offers.
If you’d like to hear more from the developers we’ve met at Gamescom 2024, you can also watch our interview with the executive producer of the MOBA Smite 2. Of course, you can expect plenty more on top of hands-on previews over the next few days.
