The game is perhaps one of the most relevant examples of Square Enix’s past policy of releasing many of its major titles as temporary exclusives for PlayStation consoles, followed by ports at a later time.

Yet, times appear to be changing, and we talked with the Director of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, Naoki Hamaguchi, at Tokyo Game Show 2025.

Hamaguchi-san shared some interesting insights, including his view on the opportunity presented by expanding to more platforms and by the popularity of portable PCs.

He also mentions that he believes it’s “very important” to release games on all platforms at the same time.

Of course, we also had to ask Hamaguchi-san about the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake part 3, and while he could not say much, he expressed confidence in the game.

Without further ado, we leave you with the interview, which you can find in the video below.

As usual, leaving a like and a comment, and subscribing to our growing YouTube channel is extremely helpful.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is currently available for PC and PS5, and it’ll release on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on January 22, 2026.

Its sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is currently available on PC nd PS5.

We’re still waiting to hear about Part 3, and hopefully, Hamaguchi-san’s desire to tell us more will be fulfilled soon.

Of course, we have plenty more content in the pipeline from Tokyo Game Show 2025 , including more interviews and previews aplenty. So stay tuned on Simulation Daily and on our YouTube channel for further treats.
