We’ll check out the new RSI Perseus and Salvation and plenty more, enjoying the event that is one of the biggest yearly celebrations of the growing space simulator.

You’ll also be able to hear me ramble for about an hour about the current state of the Star Citizen, as we close to the end of the year that has likely been most pivotal in the history of Cloud Imperium Games’ labor of love.

Yet, you don’t need to take my word for it, since IAE is one of the best chances for new players to try out the game without spending a dime, as Star Citizen will be free-to-play until December 3. On top of that, almost all the ships will be available for free rental during that period, letting you test what Star Citizen can offer to its fullest.

The best way to chart your route through the confusing controversy between Star Citizen fans and haters is to ignore them and form your own opinion.

Without further ado, you can watch the video below. Of course, we’d appreciate it if you could like the video and subscribe to our growing YouTube channel, as that’s always extremely helpful and appreciated.

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Citizen, it’s a PC exclusive, crowdfunded project directed by Chris Roberts of Wing Commander fame. It’s a multiplayer sandbox space simulator that has been in development for over a decade and in alpha for several years. It has just been updated to Alpha 4.4 with the addition of the third star system, Nyx.

In the meantime, the crowdfunding total continues to grow, and it just passed $892 million. To be precise, it’s currently at $892,055,979. Star Citizen also recently passed 6 million registered accounts, and it’s now sitting comfortably on 6,055,775. Of course, not all of them are paying customers. Many simply create an account to enjoy the free-to-play periods, like the one that just started.

A single-player campaign titled Squadron 42 is also in active development with a 2026 release window, starring an exceptional cast of famous actors, including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, Gillian Anderson, and more.

Since the project has been in development for over a decade, you can see how Squadron 42 has evolved since its first reveal.

Full disclosure: the author of this article has backed Star Citizen’s crowdfunding campaign.
