Today, the official Dragon Age: The Veilguard Twitter account confirmed that the game had gone gold before its release later this month, on October 31, 2024. This designation means that a game has been approved by first-party companies to be published on their consoles, signifying the full product is finished.

While some minor tweaks and changes could still be made to the game leading up to release, fans will be happy to know that Dragon Age: The Veilguard didn’t suffer any setbacks. The title is set to be the fourth installment in the series and continues the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition, released in 2014.

This time around, you’ll take control of a protagonist named Rook, whose race, gender, class, first name, and voice can all be customized using various details. While combat will retain its action-RPG focus, companions will be completely autonomous this time around.

In each previous game in the series, players could swap between their protagonist (Grey Warden, The Inquisitor, or Hawk) and whatever members they had in their party, assigning and using their skills accordingly. While you’ll still have access to upgrade and level up your companions, they’ll be completely controlled by AI this time around.
